Valentin Marian Negru (born September 4, 1982 in Bucharest ) is a former Romanian football player . He played a total of 242 games in League 1 . In 2006 he won the Romanian Cup with Rapid Bucharest .
Career
Negru's career began at Sportul Studențesc in his hometown. In the 2000/01 season he came to his first appearances in the first team, which at that time in the second Romanian league, the Divizia B played. At the end of the season he got with his team in the Divizia A on. Here, too, he initially acted as a supplementary player. It was not until the 2002/03 season that he regularly came into play, but had to return to the lower house. In the winter break of 2003/04 he left Sportul and moved to local rivals Rapid Bucharest , who played for the Romanian championship. At Rapid he became a core force in midfield. With the cup victory in 2006 he was able to win his first title. In the final against Național Bucharest he was substituted on in the 67th minute. In the same season he moved with his team to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup , where he was eliminated by Steaua Bucharest . He finished the championship as runner-up - also behind Steaua.
In the winter break 2006/07 Negru left Rapid and joined league rivals Unirea Urziceni . There he could not assert himself as a regular player. With Unirea, he finished the 2007/08 season in fifth place and qualified for the UEFA Cup . Then switched to CS Otopeni . After relegation in 2009 , he was drawn to league rival Politehnica Iași . This engagement also ended with relegation after the 2009/10 season . The newly promoted FC Victoria Brăneşti signed him, but gave him to his former club Sportul Studențesc during the winter break. The 2010/11 season he ended with Sportul in the last place in the table, which still meant staying in the class due to the license withdrawal for several other clubs. After he had only come to seven missions at Sportul, he switched to promoted Petrolul Ploieşti . After relegation, league rival Gaz Metan Mediaş took him under contract.
Since summer 2013 Negru has been playing for Rapid Bucharest again - after Rapids forced relegation, however, in League II . There he succeeded in direct resurgence at the end of the 2013/14 season . At the beginning of 2015, his contract with Rapid was terminated. After he had not found a new club, he ended his career.
