The Vallsjön is a lake in the Swedish municipalities Nässjö and Sävsjö .
The southern part of the lake belongs to the municipality of Sävsjö, the northern part to Nässjö. To the west of the lake is Sävsjö . The road leads south from Sävsjö to Vetlanda . On the south bank are the public bathing area Vallsjöbaden , the Sankt-Siegfried-Quelle , the village Vallsjö and the old church of Vallsjö from the 12th century . The village of Sikanäs is located on the west bank .
The surface of the lake is 6.89 km², the maximum depth 17 meters, the average depth 5 meters. In the north-south direction the lake extends for about five kilometers, the west-east extension is about two kilometers. The lake's water is poor in nutrients , clear and rich in oxygen . Vallsjön is a Natura 2000 object.
Flora and fauna
Aquatic plants in the lake include water lobelia , sea bream , strandling , changeless milfoil and waterweed . The occurrence of the rare algae species pond plum and Nostoc zetterstedtii is remarkable . The most common fish are pike , perch , burbot , roach , whitefish and tench . The Signal Crab also lives in Vallsjön.
