Final round of the German team championship in chess 1970

The final round of the German Chess Team Championship in 1970 took place in Kassel from November 20-22. Eligible to participate were Königsspringer Frankfurt , SG Porz , SC Concordia von 1907 and SV Wilmersdorf, the winners of four qualification tournaments, while the defending champion Solingen SG in 1868 missed the final qualification.

1 round

In the first round, both SC Concordia from 1907 against Königsspringer Frankfurt and SG Porz against SV Wilmersdorf scored narrow victories.

In the second round, SG Porz defeated SC Concordia and took the lead by two points. The competition between Königsspringer Frankfurt and SV Wilmersdorf ended in a draw.

A 4: 4 against Königsspringer Frankfurt would have been enough for SG Porz to win the title, but Porz had to accept a clear defeat. SC Concordia took the chance to become German champions ahead of SG Porz with a hard-fought win against SV Wilmersdorf, Frankfurt was third ahead of Wilmersdorf with the win against Porz.
