The final round of the German team championship in chess in 1977 took place from June 3rd to 5th in Weißenthurm . Over the four-track Bundesliga which had Delmenhorster SK (Group North), King Knight Frankfurt (Group West), the SC Kettig (Group Southwest) and the SC 1868 Bamberg (Group South) qualified.

1 round

In the 1st round the defending champion SC 1868 Bamberg defeated the alleged main competitor Königsspringer Frankfurt. At the same time, Delmenhorster SK scored a clear victory against SC Kettig and took the lead.
