Final round of the German team championship in chess 1976

The finals of the German team championship in chess 1976 took place from September 24th to 26th in Hallstadt . Over the four-track Bundesliga which had Delmenhorster SK (Group North), the Solingen SG 1868 (Group West), the SK Heidelberg (Group Southwest) and the SC 1868 Bamberg (Group South) qualified.

1 round

In the first round, the defending champion Solingen SG 1868 took the lead with a clear win against SK Heidelberg, while SC 1868 Bamberg narrowly won against Delmenhorster SK.

Bamberg landed a clear 7: 1 win against the bottom of the table Heidelberg, so that Solingen would have had to win 6: 2 against Delmenhorst to force a tie. With a score of 5: 2, Hans-Joachim Hecht tried for a long time to win a draw final, but after more than 11 hours of play he had to be content with a draw, so that Bamberg won the title with half a board point advantage.
