The final round of the German team championship in chess in 1967 took place from November 24th to 26th in Buschhütten . Entitled to participate were the SG Porz , the SC Concordia from 1907 , the Munich SC 1836 and the Stuttgarter Schachfreunde 1907, the winners of four qualifying tournaments, while the defending champion SC 1868 Bamberg had missed the final round qualification. The German team champion was SG Porz, which won the title for the first time.
In the first round, SG Porz took the lead with a clear win against SC Concordia in 1907. At the same time, the Munich SC scored a narrow victory against the Stuttgart Chess Friends.
In the second round, SG Porz defeated Munich SC and took the lead by two points. At the same time, the SC Concordia defeated the Stuttgart chess friends.
Even a 4: 4 against the bottom of the table Stuttgart SF would have been enough for SG Porz to win the title, and Porz even achieved clear success. The SC Concordia defeated the Munich SC and was runner-up.
