Final round of the German team championship in chess 1956

The final round of the German team championship in chess in 1956 took place on November 17th and 18th in the New Kurhaus in Aachen . It was an event in the context of the centenary of the Aachen chess club in 1856 .

The Hamburg Chess Club from 1830 , the Munich Chess Club , the Berlin Chess Society Eckbauer and the Ludwigshafen Chess Club competed in the final of the West German team championship , which was held in the knockout system. Willi Fohl from Hamburg was the tournament director.

Hamburg won the title after a narrow win against Ludwigshafen and a draw against Munich according to the Berlin rating . The real hero was old master Ahues, who defeated the Munich Scheipl.
