Wassylyj Ywanowytsch Schuptar ( Ukrainian Василий Иванович Шуптар , English transcription Vasyl Shuptar ; born January 27, 1991 ) is a Ukrainian wrestler . He won a bronze free style featherweight medal at the 2015 World Championships .

Career

Wassylyj Schuptar started wrestling in 2004. He belongs to the sports club Spartak Lwow and has been trained there by Yuri Burakov since 2012. He concentrates entirely on free style. He is a student and has been wrestling for SV Germania Weingarten in the German Wrestling League since the 2014/15 season .

In 2009 Wassylyj Schuptar took part for the first time in an international championship, namely the Junior European Championship in Tbilisi . He finished 8th in featherweight. He achieved the same place at the 2010 European Junior Championship in Samokow / Bulgaria. At the Junior World Championships 2011 in Bucharest Wassylyj Schuptar had to be content with 18th place.

His first notable success at an international championship was in October 2012 when he won the featherweight title at the Universities World Championships in Kuortane / Finland. He was also at the Universiade 2013 in Kazan and took 3rd place in featherweight together with Haji Aliyev from Azerbaijan behind Bechan Goigerejew from Russia and Behnam Ehsanpoor from Iran. All three top wrestlers, with whom he will duel more often in the further course of his career.

In April 2014, Wassylyj Schuptar won at the European Championship defeat against Haji Aliyev and a win over in Vantaa / Finland featherweight with wins over Ronny Ränäläe, Finland and Münir Recep Aktas, Turkey, Alexander Semisorow from Germany a bronze medal . At the world championship of the same year in Tashkent, he only came in 21st after defeats against Hajji Aliyev and Krzysztof Bienkowski from Poland.

The year 2015 was the most successful year in the career of Wassylyj Schuptar. First, he fought his way to the European Games in Baku , where the wrestling competitions were also classified as European championships, in featherweight after a defeat against Beka Lomtadze from Georgia with victories in the consolation round about Iwan Guidea, Romania and the ex-world champion Radoslaw Welikow from Bulgaria again a bronze medal. In September 2015 he won the first medal at a world championship at the World Championships in Las Vegas . He won the bronze medal there with victories over Behnam Ehsanpoor, Alexander Bogomojew from Russia and Münir Recep Aktas, a defeat in the semi-finals against Nomin Batbold, Mongolia and a victory over Bajrang Kumar from India.
