Venkovský dům č.p. 159 (KV Raise č.p. 159) in Volary ( German Wallern ), a town in the Jihočeský kraj region (South Bohemia) in the Czech Republic , is a listed farmhouse or country house ( Czech venkovský dům) from the Baroque period . The building in the style of a Wallerer house is dated to the 18th century.

location

The house stands at the northern end of the KV Raise street named after Karel Václav Rais on the eastern bank of the Volarský creek ( Langwiesenbach or Schreinerbach ). The neighboring buildings č.p. 160, 162 and 163 are also cultural monuments . The number "159" is a conscription number (číslo popisné, č.p.).

history

The place Volary / Wallern was first mentioned in a document in 1359 and only received city ​​rights in 1871 . The original settlement arose on the Goldener Steig during the settlement of the Bohemian Forest in the 13th and 14th centuries. Another wave of colonization took place in the 16th and 17th centuries.

House 159 probably dates from the 18th century. It had the house name Zaunbaur and in 1945 belonged to Josef Haselsteiner. The building was placed under protection on May 3, 1958 as a cultural monument and on July 25, 1995 it was included in the northern monument reserve (památková rezervace) of the city of Volary (ÚSKP 1074). The house was restored to its original form seven years after severe fire damage in 2005. It is divided into apartments and is rented out to holiday guests.

Despite the fire damage, the large-format facility of the central antenna house has been preserved. The building was built on a natural stone foundation largely using log construction. The beams were hewn with a broad carpenter's hatchet. The gabled roof with a slight inclination with wooden shingles covered. The east facade was rebuilt after the fire. The house is two-story and has eight window axes on its narrow side . The balcony with carved railings extends over the entire width of the attic. Behind the wide entrance door, a spacious hall extends the entire length of the house. Parts of the interior and the three chimneys have been preserved. Before the fire, the monument protection applied to the entire property, the importance of the house as a cultural monument and part of the protection zone continues.
