Venom (English for "poison", especially " snake venom "), working title BFMV 5 , is the fifth studio album in 1998 founded metal band Bullet for My Valentine from the Welsh Bridgend . The album was released worldwide on August 14, 2015.

Emergence

On November 19, 2013, a new song called Raising Hell was presented on BBC Radio 1 , with which the band musically approached their previous albums again, as the last albums, Fever and above all Temper Temper could not achieve the desired commercial success.

On January 6, 2014, Tuck announced via Twitter that the band had started recording the next album in the studio.

On their homepage, the band announced on February 9, 2015 that Jason James had separated from the band.

On May 11, 2015, the band announced via Facebook that they would present a new song called No Way Out on BBC Radio 1 on May 17, 2015 . On May 18, 2015, the band released this new single on YouTube , and released it for download shortly afterwards. The album title for the fifth album with Venom was also officially announced. August 14, 2015 was chosen as the publication date. In addition, a successor for James was found with Jamie Mathias, who previously played at Revoker.

A tour for South and North America was announced in April 2015.

On June 24, 2015, the band released a second single called You Want a Battle? (Here's a War) from the upcoming album Venom .

The third single Army of Noise was released on July 17, 2015.

On August 10, 2015, a song called Playing God was released, which can be found on the Deluxe Version of Venom .

Three days later, on August 13, 2015, another song was released with Worthless .

On October 16, 2015, the 5th single was released as a music video with Venom .

On February 8, 2016, a music video was released for the single "Worthless".

promotion

Almost 2 years before the album was released, Raising Hell was a song from the upcoming album that was released as a single a short time later.

On August 7, 2015, one week before the publication, the countdown started on Instagram . The band published a picture every day in descending order.

The Guardian assumed from the start that it would not be easy for Bullet for My Valentine toiron out Temper Temper's mistakes. However, with Venom they were able to build on more "old times".

Marcel Menne from Plattentests.de was able to take the new hardness off a lot:

“The keynote, as the instrumental opener 'V' makes clear, is now much darker. As for the rest of the new tracks, everyone can rest assured who, based on the pre-singles 'No way out' and 'Army of noise', wanted the old hardness back to the length of the album. With songs like 'Broken' or 'Worthless', Tuck's men strike even deeper into the notch the fans want and are sure to make a few hearts beat faster with a few skillfully placed hooks. "

- Plattentests.de

Alex Klug, author of metal.de, is of the opinion that Venom does not come close to The Poison :

“... Will Matt Tuck & Co. manage to deliver a second 'The Poison' under these conditions? Warning, spoiler: No. ...

... A title like 'Worthless' can be taken literally for once: The semi-ballad can't tear anything emotionally - even semi-charming kitsch scandal like 'Forever And Always' ('Scream Aim Fire', 2008) could do more . ... "

Music genre

The album is a clear departure from the previous albums Fever and Temper Temper . With Venom , Bullet for My Valentine marks the return of the thrash metal sound from Scream Aim Fire . With a mix of clear and screeching vocals that are typical of Metal, they also approach the classic Metalcore elements a little more.
