geography

In the south, Verberg borders the Krefeld city forest . In the northwest lies the Riethbenden nature reserve , a section of the Niepkuhlen . The neighboring district of Gartenstadt in the east belongs largely to the Verberg district.

history

Verberg was an old farming settlement and until 1794 belonged to the Electoral Cologne Office of Uerdingen . Since the 19th century formed Verberg a rural community in the mayoralty Bockum in district Krefeld in the administrative district of Dusseldorf . In 1902 Verberg was merged with the neighboring municipality of Bockum to the south to form the municipality of Bockum-Verberg . This community was incorporated into the city of Krefeld on October 15, 1907.

Culture

The cultural highlight is the Schützenfest , which takes place every four years at Whitsun .

Since the neighboring village of Traar has comparable structures in terms of facilities and celebrations, there is a certain rivalry between concealers and Traarers, which in most cases is more fun and with little teasing.
