The Verkehrsgemeinschaft Landkreis Vechta is a transport association of six bus companies in the Landkreis Vechta .
The companies together transport around 2.2 million people annually. The transport association was founded on August 1st, 2007.

Change in public transport in the Vechta district

Modernization measures are intended to significantly improve the formerly ailing local public transport in the Vechta district.

Integration of school transport in public transport

When the transport association was founded in 2007, school bus transport was integrated into local public transport and has been expanded ever since. The biggest changes took place in the district town of Vechta . Many large regional bus stops were expanded (e.g. North School Center & Dominikanerweg) or completely rebuilt (ZOB / Vechta Station & Burgstr./ Old Tax Office).

City bus Vechta

The public transport offer in the district town was greatly improved with the introduction of the city bus system in early 2008. With the introduction of the city bus, over 50 new stops were created in Vechta. (see main article StadtBus Vechta )

Moobilplus Vechta

Together with the Vechta district, the VGV has been working on a significant increase in bus traffic since 2010. Since then, an hourly connection from the cities and communities of Visbek , Goldenstedt (including the district of Lutten ), Bakum , Lohne and the Vechta district of Langförden to Vechta as well as hourly connections from Damme , Steinfeld , Dinklage and Neuenkirchen-Vörden to Lohne have been sought in the long term .

The result of these efforts is the “ Moobilplus Vechta ” project ( spelling : “moobil +”), a call bus system that went into operation in November 2013, initially on a trial basis until October 2015. All municipalities in the district of Vechta are included in this system; However, the city of Vechta only financially contributes to its district of Langförden, since inner-city traffic falls under the responsibility of the StadtBus. The buses run regularly between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. at least every two hours, on the Steinfeld – Holdorf –Damme, Dinklage – Lohne routes and in Lohner city traffic every hour. Moobilplus buses leave the Vechta district on two lines: on the Dinklage– Quakenbrück line (connection to the Oldenburg – Osnabrück line of the NordWestBahn ) and the Vechta– Addrup line .

In addition to the classic, fixed stops, Moobilplus Vechta has a comprehensive network of so-called on-demand stops. These are only approached if the journey has been booked at least 60 minutes in advance by calling the mobility center or on the Internet. In this way, a network of stops has been set up that is so dense that almost all citizens in the district can find their stop within a radius of 500 meters.

The following results were recorded in May 2015:

  • over 5,700 registered customers
  • over 115,000 passengers carried (growth of up to 10% per month)
  • over 82,000 calls to the mobility center
  • over 17,000 visitors on Facebook / over 45,000 visitors on www.moobilplus.de
  • 78 voluntary moobil + consultants in all municipalities
  • 29 newly created jobs
  • 521 stops (previously approx. 220) on 15 lines.

Further innovations

  • The bus lines are gradually being coordinated with the NordWestBahn cycle times.
  • Gradually, older vehicles are being replaced by low-floor buses, which are primarily intended to make it easier for disabled and elderly citizens to get on and off.
