history

Lutten was first mentioned in a document as a noble estate in 872. In 1320, a church in Lutten is documented.

After the Second World War , Lutten experienced an enormous influx of refugees and displaced persons.

Lutten is part of the predominantly Catholic Oldenburger Münsterland . So is the majority of the residents of the Catholic faith. The Lutter village church St. Jacobus is a branch church of the parish St. Gorgonius in Goldenstedt .

On March 1, 1974, due to the municipal reform, the independent municipality of Lutten was dissolved and incorporated into the municipality of Goldenstedt. This was accompanied by persistent protests, because the Lutter population wanted to prevent the incorporation into the community of Goldenstedt, because of insufficient identification and a great distance to the place Goldenstedt (9 km). Many Lutter citizens took to the streets in Vechta city center in 1974 and protested under the motto "Lutten zu Vechta " for the incorporation of Lutten into the city of Vechta, which, due to the significantly higher identification of Lutter with Vechta and the proximity to the district town (just under 3 km to the entrance to Vechta-Oythe) seemed more sensible.

The proximity to the district town of Vechta has ensured a sustained construction boom in Lutten since the 1980s due to the influx of commuters , which contribute to the fact that the proportion of those who live from agriculture is steadily decreasing. The willingness to commute is promoted by the steadily improved connection of Luttens over the years via the NordWestBahn to Vechta, but also to the southern cities and municipalities of the district of Vechta, Wildeshausen , Bremen and Osnabrück and the expansion of bus traffic by the Verkehrsgemeinschaft Landkreis Vechta .

In 2015, the Goldenstedt sculpture mile was expanded to include a location in Lutten. At Heimathuus at Lutten train station, the wooden sculpture "Carousel of Life" was set up, a joint work of the sculptors Ragna Reusch-Klinkenberg (Rotenburg / Wümme), Uwe Schloen (Bremen), Uwe Oswald (Goldenstedt / Barnstorf), Ellen Mäder-Gutz (Vechta) and Yves Rasch (Hamburg).

politics

Lutten was the first community to regain independence in the British sector after World War II.

During the municipal reform in 1974, Lutten was incorporated into the municipality of Goldenstedt. To this day there are strong currents in the community that want a connection to Vechta. The main reason for this is primarily the geographical conditions. The mayor of Goldenstedt, Willibald Meyer (CDU), who has been in office since 1986, lives in Lutten.

traffic

Connection in road traffic

Lutten is crossed by the two district roads 254 (Wöstendöllen-Amerbusch) and 253 (Osterende- Langförden ) (north-south, west-east).

South of the village the road 881 leads to Goldenstedt near Oldenburg and directly at the south exit of the village it leads to the district town Vechta.

The A1 can be reached within 15 minutes in the direction of Osnabrück, Oldenburg and Bremen, as can the B 69 in the direction of Diepholz.

Local public transport

Lutten is very well connected to local public transport. The train station is 1 km north of the town center and is served hourly by the RB 58 (operator: NordWestBahn ) in the direction of Osnabrück / Vechta and Bremen / Delmenhorst on the Delmenhorst – Hesepe railway line. Lutten is connected to Vechta and Goldenstedt every 1 to 2 hours by bus lines 693 and 642 (operator: Verkehrsgemeinschaft Landkreis Vechta ).

Sons and daughters of the church

The physicist Klaus von Klitzing , born on June 28, 1943 in Schroda / Posen, grew up in Lutten. He received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1985 for his work on the “ Quantum Hall Effect ”.
