Aircraft movements, passenger numbers and air freight at Munich Airport since 1949.

The list of traffic figures at Munich Airport gives an annual overview of passenger numbers, air movements, air mail and air freight at Munich Airports Munich-Riem (1949 to 1992) and Franz Josef Strauss (from 1992) with the percentage changes compared to the previous year. The list also shows the cuts in traffic development that led to a decline in traffic figures due to the oil crisis in 1982, the Second Gulf War in 1990/91, the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001 and the economic crisis in 2009.

Explanation

  • Year: states the year the traffic data was recorded.
  • Passengers: Indicates the total number of commercial passengers at the airport for the respective year.
  • Movements: Indicates the total flight movements of the airport.
  • Air freight: Indicates the total air freight handled at the airport excluding airmail in tonnes (transit / invitation / unloading)
  • Airmail: Indicates the total number of tons of airmail handled at the airport.
  • ± in%: Indicates the percentage change compared to the previous year.
