history
Otto Schmidt founded - initially as a sole proprietorship - on October 15, 1905, the interest group “Central for companies with limited liability Dr. Otto Schmidt ". In 1919 the company name was given the addition of Verlag Dr. Otto Schmidt expanded. The publishing house has been a limited partnership since 1940 .
Management of the publishing house
Otto Schmidt the Elder (1866–1945) founded the publishing house in 1905 and managed it until 1945. After that, Otto Schmidt the Younger (1902–1984) was Legal Counsel and General Manager from 1929 to 1944. After the death of Otto Schmidt the Elder, Helmut Simons took over Publishing management until 1973. The office of authorized signatory and personally liable partner was handed over to Hans-Martin Schmidt from 1958 to 1994 . Karl-Peter Winters held this position from 1991 to 2010. Felix Hey has been a personally liable partner since July 1, 2010 .
Lawyer search service
The lawyer search service Verlag Dr. Otto Schmidt GmbH was founded in 1989 by lawyers in Frankfurt am Main and four years later by the publishing house Dr. Otto Schmidt taken over. The tracing service is the oldest lawyer tracing service in Germany. Until the introduction of the lawyer search engine in 1999, customers were advised by telephone. Since the introduction of the online search engine, the search service has also operated the portals Anwaltsuche.de (2005) and Fachanwaltsuche.de (2010).
