Insurance agent - The amazing career of Mehmet Göker is a German documentary film from 2011 about the rise and fall of an insurance broker's company in Germany. It was created under the direction of Klaus Stern .
action
The documentation shows how Mehmet Göker, at the age of 25, claimed to have earned his first million by selling private health insurance by telephone . His company MEG AG , named after his initials, is increasing sales significantly and a large number of new employees are being recruited. This is done with the help of high commissions and luxury gifts, such as long-distance travel and leased sports cars.
Göker is portrayed as the sole ruler who employed over 1000 people in 2009. The private health insurers, including Axa , Hallesche and Central , are paying ever higher commissions. MEG AG collects up to 8,000 euros for the conclusion of a single contract. At this point in time, Göker claims to be the second largest broker of private health insurance in Germany.
Many scenes show how Göker surrounds himself with obedient employees, who have the company logo tattooed on their wrists as a sign of devotion, after Göker was the first to demonstrate this. A sect-like cult around the company is documented, which the employees can no longer avoid.
Almost a year after it was sold, MEG AG is insolvent and files for bankruptcy on October 28, 2009. The public prosecutor's office is still investigating Göker on suspicion of breach of trust, the delay in bankruptcy and unfair competition. The system of his structured sales began to shake in 2007 when Göker was fined 720,000 euros for tax evasion. Mehmet E. Göker is said to have amassed around 21 million euros in private debt.
The end shows Göker in his residence on the Turkish Aegean coast , where he lives with a group of 35 people. He states that the new company Göker Consulting with 40 employees does not belong to him, but to his mother. He himself is just an employee. In an advertising presentation by Göker Consulting, however, Mehmet Göker is named as the contact name with his address in Kassel and the content expressly refers to his personal experience in the insurance sector and his multi-million turnover from previous years.
Narrative form
The film is told almost entirely in original sound . There are no speaking voices, which is why the o-tones often overlap in the off , while subtitles and explanations are faded in several times . Background music is occasionally used.
