Vettelhoven is a local district of the association-free municipality Grafschaft in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Ahrweiler . The local district currently has 519 inhabitants. Until it was incorporated into the newly formed municipality Grafschaft in 1974, Vettelhoven was an independent municipality.

geography

Vettelhoven is located on the left bank of the Rhine near the Ahr valley . The Höhenhof residential area also belongs to Vettelhoven .

history

The establishment date of the place is not known. A Dietrich von Vettelhoven is first mentioned in 1248.

On March 16, 1974, the previously independent municipality of Vettelhoven was incorporated into the municipality of Grafschaft by the Verbandsgemeinde Ringen .

Vettelhoven is one of eleven local districts in the Grafschaft municipality. It is represented by a local council and a local mayor .

The local council consists of seven members, who were elected in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a personalized proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Mayor

Franz Josef Schneider (CDU) became mayor of Vettelhoven in 2014. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was confirmed in office for a further five years with a share of 77.99% of the votes.

Schneider's predecessor, Stefan Wuzél (FWG), was unable to prevail against Schneider in the 2014 local elections.

The Vettel Hoven castle was build around 1890 building in the neo-Renaissance style, located in a spacious park.
