Holzweiler is a district of the non-union municipality Grafschaft in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Ahrweiler . The Holzweiler district currently has 1,370 inhabitants. Until it was incorporated into the Grafschaft community, which was newly formed on March 16, 1974, Holzweiler was an independent community.
geography
Holzweiler is about 25 km south of Bonn and can be reached via the federal highway 61 , Kreuz Meckenheim, at the end of the federal highway 565 , junction Gelsdorf . The districts and residential areas Alteheck, Esch, Haus Schönberg and Mönchescher Hof belong to Holzweiler .

Holzweiler is one of eleven local districts in the county of Grafschaft. It is represented by a local council and a local mayor .

Mayor
Wilhelm Dreyer (FWG) became mayor of Holzweiler in 2014. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was confirmed in office for a further five years with a share of the vote of 74.71%.
Dreyer narrowly prevailed against his long-term predecessor Bruno Zimmermann (CDU) in the 2014 local elections.
Culture and infrastructure
The Villa Bellestate, which is also one of the venues of the Villa Musica , is located in Holzweiler . The “Panorama Sauna ” sauna facility is also well-known outside the region .
The parish church of St. Martin in Holzweiler was built in the neo-Gothic style towards the end of the 19th century. The first sketches and plans for the new parish church were drawn up in 1896/1897 by the Lüftelberg- born architect Anton Becker and approved by the Vicariate General in Trier in June 1897. When Becker had to go to a clinic for several months because of a serious illness, Lambert von Fisenne was commissioned to build the church. The solemn consecration of the new parish church took place on May 4, 1900.
