The Energi Viborg Arena is a football stadium in the Danish city of Viborg , Jutland .

history

The venue, inaugurated in 1931, is the sporting home of Viborg FF . In 2001, the old system was demolished and rebuilt by 2007 for DKK 62.1 million (approx. 8.3 million ). Today the stadium offers 9,566 seats. They are distributed over four covered grandstands (west: 2,662, north: 2,072, east: 2,792, south: 2,040). At concerts there are up to 17,000 seats. The naming rights of the individual spectator stands were sold to companies. The playing field has underfloor heating and the floodlight system provides 1200 lux . In 2008, two large screens were installed in the stadium.

The stadium meets the requirements of the Danish association DBU for the top division and those of UEFA for international matches. The sports facility has been used several times by the Danish national soccer team for international matches. In December 2008, UEFA awarded the 2011 European Under-21 Football Championship to Denmark. Next to the NRGi Park in Aarhus ; of the MCH Arena in Herning and the Energi Nord Arena in Aalborg , the Viborg Stadium was one of a total of four venues.

In October 2011 the stadium received the sponsor name Energi Viborg Arena after the energy and water supply company Energi Viborg . The contract was initially concluded until 2014, then extended until 2017.
