Victor von Lepel (politician)
Victor Karl Ernst Ludwig von Lepel (born March 2, 1794 in Offenbach , † July 7, 1860 in Darmstadt ) was a Hessian diplomat and politician.
origin
Victor von Lepel was the son of Prince Carl von Isenburg-Birstein's court marshal, Joachim Otto Friedrich von Lepel (1740–1802), who died in 1802, and his second wife, Mary Mills (1764–1837), who came from Scotland. The von Lepel family came from Mecklenburg and Pomerania and owned goods in Grambow (near Schwerin) , in Rambow near Wismar, on the Gnitz (Usedom-Western Pomerania) and the Western Pomerania mainland.
He had six siblings, including Karl, he became a bank owner, and Eugen August Hellmuth , he fell for Napoleon in Russia in 1812. His youngest brother Ernst (* October 18, 1796; † January 2, 1859) was forester for Prince Carl von Isenburg-Birstein.
Education and career
He studied camera science from 1809 to 1812 in Heidelberg and from 1812 to 1813 at the University of Göttingen . In Göttingen he became a member of the Corps Hannovera . On May 13, 1825 he was raised to the Hessian baron status and court judge in Darmstadt. In 1848 he was appointed chamberlain to Grand Duke Ludwig III. and to the privy councilor. He represented the Grand Duchy of Hessen-Darmstadt in 1849/50 as envoy in Berlin and then became a member of the Hessian State Council. From 1852 to 1858 he represented Hesse as representative of the Bundestag in Frankfurt am Main. In the year of his death he became president of the Oberpostdirektion and the Oberkonsistorium in Darmstadt.

On August 19, 1821, he married Wilhelmine Emmerich (* June 26, 1800; † November 8, 1870) and had 4 children with her:
