from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Joachim Otto Friedrich von Lepel (born March 12, 1740 in Rambow ; † May 14, 1802 in Offenbach am Main ) was Wuerttemberg Colonel Sergeant of the Life Guard on horseback and most recently Isenburg-Birstein Chamber President and Court Marshal .

origin

His parents were the Dutch major Johann Georg Friedrich von Lepel (* 1710; † before November 4, 1749) and his wife Eleonore Sabine Dorothea von Vietinghoff (* October 18, 1722; † 1750 in Maastricht ), a daughter of the royal Swedish colonel Otto von Vietinghoff (1685–1728) and the Ölgard von Plessen (1752–1698) from the House of Cambs . After the death of the father, the mother married the Electorate of Hanover, Major Hartwig Joachim von Pentz .

Life

He was raised in Maastricht and inherited the Grambow and Rambow estates after the early death of his parents . In 1755 he came into the service of Württemberg through the mediation of an uncle, there he became the Duke's personal noble boy, then Leibpage with the rank of lieutenant. In 1763 he became a cavalry captain, and later a sergeant in the bodyguard on horseback and chamberlain. In 1766 he sold Grambow and Rambow to the Swede Mathias Nicolaus Thomson and now remained entirely in Württemberg . But from 1774 all officers there received only half a salary due to financial difficulties.

He was married to Karoline von Röder from 1769. But this began in 1780 a love affair with the royal French ambassador in Stuttgart, the Vicomte de Vibraye. The marriage was then divorced on September 20, 1781. Lepel left Württemberg, went to Amsterdam and founded a boys' boarding school there. After a while he came to Offenbach as the Isenburg-Birstein Chamber President and Court Marshal. He married a lady-in-waiting of the princess in 1793 and stayed there until his death on May 14, 1802.
