Victoria Hamilton

Victoria Hamilton (born April 5, 1971 in London ) is a British actress .

Life

Hamilton grew up in Surrey , she attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art . She starred in the 1995 television series Cone Zone. She appeared in the role of Mrs. Forster in the 1995 miniseries Pride and Prejudice . In the historical costume drama Victoria & Albert (2001) she played the lead role of Queen Victoria . 15 years later she played again a British noblewoman, Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon , the wife of King George VI. (Great-grandson of Victoria) and mother of the current monarch Elizabeth II in the Netflix series The Crown . In the comedy Before You Go (2002) she took on a larger role on the side of John Hannah , Joanne Whalley and Tom Wilkinson .

For her role in the play The Master Builder Hamilton received in 1995 the London Critics' Circle Theater Award . She received the same award again in 2000 for the role in As You Like . For the role in A Day in the Death of Joe Egg , she was nominated for the Laurence Olivier Theater Award in 2002 and for the Tony Award in 2003 . In 2004 she received the Barclays Theater Award and the Critics' Circle Award for the role in As You Like It .
