Andersson, who starts for the Vemdalens If, competed in the European Cup for the first time as a ski crosser in Mora in March 2012 and finished in 66th place. At the Junior World Championships in 2012 and 2013 in Chiesa in Valmalenco , he finished tenth and 25th. He completed his first World Cup race on December 8, 2012 in Nakiska and finished it in 29th place. The following month he reached his first top ten placement in the World Cup with eighth place in Megève . At the 2013 World Championships in Voss , he came in 27th place. In February 2015, Andersson achieved his first World Cup podium with third place in Tegernsee . At the 2015 World Championships on Kreischberg , he finished 25th. In 2015 and 2016 he became the Swedish champion in ski cross.
At the beginning of the 2016/17 season , Andersson took third place in Val Thorens . In the further course of the season, five placements were added to the top ten, making him tenth in the Ski Cross World Cup. At the season highlight, the 2017 World Championships in the Sierra Nevada , he finished 28th. After finishing 22nd in Val Thorens at the beginning of the 2017/18 season, he won his first World Cup on December 12, 2017 in Arosa .
