He is the brother of David and Rasmus Elm , who are also professional footballers and have been under contract with KFF for a long time .

Career

Elm began playing football at Johansfors IF before moving to Nybro IF , where he was also used in the men's team. He then joined the Falkenbergs FF , for which the midfielder made his 2004 Superettan debut. In his second season he was able to fight for a regular place and recommended himself with eight goals in 28 games for higher tasks. Therefore, he was signed by Kalmar FF before the 2006 season . Even in the Allsvenskan he immediately had a regular place. During his first season he made his debut on May 24, 2006 in the Swedish U-21 team when he was substituted on for Pontus Wernbloom in the 3-1 win over the Polish junior team shortly before the end of the game . Overall, however, he was only used twice in the team. With five goals in his 24 league games, he contributed to the fact that the team could play in fifth place in the table and thus narrowly missed the qualification for the Royal League .

Also in his second first division season, Elm, as a regular player, had a large part in KFF's ability to establish itself in the top tier of the league. One point behind IFK Göteborg , the title was narrowly missed as runner-up and Elm played his way into the notebook of national coach Lars Lagerbäck . In January 2008, he was finally the occasion of an American tour in the senior team called and arrived at the 0: 2 defeat against the national team of the United States on January 19 on his international debut when he was in the mid-term break for Niclas Alexandersson came on.

In the league, Elm's phase of strength continued and he had scored four or five goals in the two preludes by the end of the season, so he scored six goals by the summer break after less than half of the season because of the European Championship 2008 . As a result, Elm received offers from abroad. Among other things, the SC Heerenveen wooed him, but he decided to stay in Sweden until the end of the season. After the end of the season in Sweden and winning the first championship title for Kalmar FF, to which Elm made a significant contribution with 15 goals, he moved to SC Heerenveen in the Netherlands. He made his debut in the honor division on January 16, 2009 in a 3-1 win over Feyenoord Rotterdam .

After three years in Friesland, Elm moved to AZ in Alkmaar in 2012 . There he was a regular player in his first two seasons, in 2013 he won the Dutch Cup after goals from Adam Maher and Jozy Altidore with a 2-1 final win against PSV Eindhoven . In the first half of the 2014/15 season, he temporarily moved into the second tier.

At the end of March 2015, shortly before the end of the transition period , Elm moved back to Sweden and again joined the Kalmar FF, where he met his brothers again. He signed a four-year contract at his former play station.
