Viktor Franz Anton Glutz-Ruchti

Viktor Franz Anton Glutz-Ruchti (born June 14, 1747 in Solothurn ; † October 9, 1824 ibid) was a Swiss Catholic clergyman and coadjutor bishop .

Life

Viktor Franz Anton Glutz-Ruchti was born as the son of Johann Viktor Anton Glutz-Ruchti (born June 15, 1703 in Solothurn; † December 13, 1780 ibid), councilor and mayor and his wife Maria Jakobea Vallier from Sankt Albin .

He still had seven siblings:

Viktor Franz Anton Glutz-Ruchti studied at the Collegium Germanicum in Rome and completed his studies as Dr. theol. , then continued his studies in Paris . In 1770 he was ordained a priest and in 1771 became a preacher at St. Ursen in Solothurn and in 1785 a canon ; from 1805 he was the monastery secretary, cathedral scholaster , bandmaster and vicar general of the diocese of Lausanne . In 1809 he became provost of the monastery.

On 29 May 1820 Pope appointed him Pius VII. To titular bishop of Kherson and coadjutor of the bishop Franz Xaver von Neveu of Basel hereby moved Solothurn with right of succession, in the negotiations during the reorganization of the diocese of Basel as a future bishop's residence to the fore. On September 3, 1820, the nuncio Ignazio Nasalli donated him the episcopal ordination in the monastery of St. Urban .
