Viktor von Carlowitz-Maxen

Viktor Karl von Carlowitz-Maxen (born December 6, 1809 , † September 11, 1856 in Dresden ) was a German heraldist and genealogist .

He came from the old Meissen noble family of the von Carlowitz family , from which the family von Carlowitz- Maxen arose in 1773 . Carlowitz-Maxen was a Saxon captain, chamberlain and legation counselor . He was regarded as an excellent expert on Saxon history and had put together an extensive historical private collection, which after his death became the property of the Saxon Main State Archives in Dresden . In addition, he worked as deputy chairman of the Royal Saxon Antiquities Association (now: Association for Saxon State History eV).

He edited the volume “Souveräne” for the Neue Siebmacher .
