The village of Oberulrain is a district of the town of Neustadt an der Donau in the Kelheim district in Lower Bavaria . Until 1978 it formed an independent municipality. Oberulrain belongs to the Hallertau .
location
The place is located south of the Danube , on the western side of a flat ridge that separates the Danube and Abenstal from each other and runs in the flat floodplains of both rivers. Regensburg is about 45 km to the east and Ingolstadt 30 km to the west. Munich is about 90 km south of the town.
history
The two church villages Niederulrain and Oberulrain were mentioned in summary in 901 as Olreini and 1018 as Olrenna . Bertoldus de Ulrein and Hermanus de superiore Ulreine (Oberulrain) are mentioned in a document about the parish of Gögging from 1220. The Lords of Ulrain appear in various records up to the beginning of the 14th century.
The places Oberulrain and Niederulrain as well as the hamlet Lina formed the common political municipality of Oberulrain since the 19th century . This was incorporated into the city of Neustadt an der Donau on May 1, 1978 as part of a municipal area reform.
church
The church of St. Achatius was built in the 13th century in the late Romanesque style. The altarpiece, which depicts the martyrdom of St. Achatius, comes from Johann Gebhard .
Economy and Infrastructure
The village has about 100 inhabitants and is almost exclusively agricultural and forestry. The focus here is on hop growing . Due to the proximity to the health resort Bad Gögging , holiday apartments are now available in the village.
