The village of Arresting is a district of the town of Neustadt an der Donau in the Kelheim district in Lower Bavaria . Until 1972 it formed an independent municipality.

location

The place is about three kilometers north of the Danube , untouched on the gently rolling hills of the Jura, which begins here .

Regensburg is about 45 km to the east, Ingolstadt 30 km to the west. Munich is about 100 km south of the town.

history

Since it can be assumed that “ ing ” places originate from the time of the oldest Baier land seizures, the conclusion that arresting originated as early as the 6th or 7th century is reasonable.

The name of the village probably comes from a man named Argisto, who settled here around the year 1000 ("Argistingin" = "with the people of Argisto"). The place was first mentioned in a document in 1086 when Elisabeth, the wife of Count von Vohburg , handed over her estate in Argistingin to the Münchsmünster monastery .

As part of the regional reform on January 1, 1972, the place was incorporated into the city of Neustadt an der Donau.

The village has about 100 inhabitants in about 25 houses that close like a ring around the church.

Attractions

  • The church of St. Wolfgang dates from the 13th century and was originally built in the early Gothic style.
  • The ossuary from the 16th century with stacked skulls, arm and foot bones is still there.
  • The extinguishing water pond is repeatedly used as an ice surface in winter.

Economy and Infrastructure

The village is characterized exclusively by agriculture and forestry.

The Schwandorf-Forchheim natural gas pipeline runs right next to the village and comes to the surface in Arresting through a diversion station.
