The village of Niederulrain is a district of the town of Neustadt an der Donau in the Kelheim district in Lower Bavaria . Niederulrain belongs to the Hallertau .
location
The place is 3 km east of the city of Neustadt and lies south of the Danube in its meadow landscape. With the neighboring town of Oberulrain , Niederulrain is almost spatially grown. Regensburg is about 45 km to the east and Ingolstadt 30 km to the west. Munich is about 90 km south of the town.
history
The places Niederulrain and Oberulrain as well as the hamlet Lina originally formed the common political municipality of Oberulrain . This was incorporated into the city of Neustadt on May 1, 1978 as part of a municipal reform.
The church villages of Ulrain were mentioned in documents as early as 901 as "Olreini" and 1018 as "Olrenna". Niederulrain was an independent Hofmark until the beginning of the 19th century . The aristocratic seat was owned by the "Wimmer von Marching " in the 14th century and later passed on to "Heinrich the Harlander". In 1572 Sebastian Kugler, the former administrator of the Biburg Monastery, acquired the Hofmark. Around 1585 the goods complex came to the "Pilbis von Siegenburg ". At the end of the 17th century, "Karl Freiherr von Heydon" was the owner of the Hofmark. Through his daughter Anna Maria, married Countess Rambaldi, Niederulrain fell to the noble family who had immigrated from Verona . Anna Maria von Rambaldi, who died in 1802, was the last nurse in Neustadt an der Donau. An epitaph of the countess can be found in the parish church of Neustadt.
Niederulrain Castle, which no longer exists today, was located on the south-east of the Nussberg. It is said to have been destroyed as early as 1388 by the Rhenish Association of Cities in the City War.
church
The Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary has Romanesque origins, was renovated around 1600 and added baroque elements in the 18th century .
Economy and Infrastructure
The village has around 100 inhabitants and, in addition to a handicraft business, is almost exclusively agricultural and forestry. The focus here is on hop growing .
