The hamlet Umbertshausen is part of the town of Neustadt an der Donau in the Kelheim district in Lower Bavaria . Umbertshausen belongs to the Hallertau .

The village, which now consists of four properties, is idyllically located in a 28.70 hectare clearing island in the Dürnbuch forest at the transition from the tertiary Danube-Isar hill country to the Danube lowlands. The Kaltenbrunner Bach flows past on its western side. Regensburg is about 45 km to the east and Ingolstadt 30 km to the west. Munich is about 90 km south of the town.

history

Like many other places in the Dürnbuch Forest, the hamlet is likely to be a clearing foundation by Duke Tassilo III. launched münchsmünster abbey from the second half have been the 8th century. The first written mention of the place, which was a wasteland around the 18th century , was around 1100 when "Ratolt de Humbretteshusun" was present as a witness during the transfer of property. Up until the middle of the 13th century, the noble von Umbertshausen appear in many places in the traditions of the Münchsmünster, Weltenburg and Biburg monasteries . Between 1138 and 1158 Aribo von Umbertshausen testifies to several documents from the Bishop of Freising.

1437 granted Duke Albrecht III. "The Burgkstal zu Kaltenprunn" with all its affiliations to the Vorarlberg family of the Schellenbergs . The remains of this fortification are located approx. 1600 m southeast of the village, in the middle of the Dürnburcher Forest, halfway along the Schelmenweg, at the confluence of Gländerbach and Kaltenbrunner Bach. On the map of Apian from 1557 the place appears as "villa Umbratshausen".

When the political communities were formed in 1808/1818 , the village of Geibenstetten and the hamlet of Umbertshausen were combined to form the community of Geibenstetten. As part of the territorial reform , this municipality was incorporated into the city of Neustadt an der Donau on January 1, 1978.

The chapel, which was completely renovated in 1903, was dedicated to the Mother of God.

Economy and Infrastructure

The place is characterized exclusively by agriculture and forestry. The focus here is on hop growing . One of the properties is the former forester's house of the Wittelsbach Compensation Fund . To supply the town with electricity, a small power station was built on the "Kaltenbrunner Bach" in 1921, which was in operation until 1957. Umbertshausen belongs to the Münchsmünster school and parish district .
