Villa Forni Cerato
The Villa Forni Cerato in Montecchio Precalcino in the province of Vicenza , Veneto was planned by Andrea Palladio around 1565 for the wealthy timber merchant Girolamo Forni.
At the request of the client, Palladio had revised an existing building by keeping the structure, using simple means to adapt his proposed changes and thus modernizing the forms.
As with the Villa Saraceno , Palladio used the meager resources purposefully to create an elegant architectural form in which all the attention is directed to the Serliana . As an entrance loggia that protrudes slightly from the building and is crowned by a gable, it forms the functional connecting element between the interior of the building and the outside space.
The building was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996, along with other Palladian villas .
