Vince Ector
Vincent "Vince" Ector (born July 5, 1965 ) is an American jazz musician ( drums ) of modern jazz .
Live and act
Ector, who comes from Philadelphia, had music lessons from the age of nine and attended the GAMP music school in Philadelphia, which enabled him to study at Temple University while still in junior high school . He then studied at the University of Pennsylvania ; he also had lessons from Mickey Roker , Ralph Peterson and Armand Santarelli . He committed himself to military service and played six years as a percussionist with the United States Army Band . The first recordings were made in 1994 with Charles Earland ( Ready 'N Able ). In the course of his career so far he has played a. a. with Freddie Hubbard , Randy Weston , James Moody , Slide Hampton , Jimmy Heath , Gloria Lynne , Bobby Watson , Lou Donaldson , Grover Washington Jr. , Dr. Lonnie Smith , Ron Carter , Claudio Roditi , John Lee , Melvin Sparks and Shirley Scott . In 2006 he presented the album Renewal of the Spirit . He also produced a tribute album for Charles Earland on High Note Records ( Keepers of the Flame . 2002). In the field of jazz, he was involved in 36 recording sessions between 1997 and 2017, including a. also with Craig Bailey , Onaje Allan Gumbs , Sharel Cassity , Giacomo Gates , Amos Hoffman , James Weidman , Bob DeVos , most recently with Houston Person .
Currently (2019) he leads the Organatomy Trio , which includes Bruce Williams, Pat Bianchi and Paul Bollenback . Ector has taught at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Lincoln University, and currently directs the nonprofit educational program Arts for Kids Inc. He has also been artist in residence for the Manhattan New Music Project and Arts Horizons Inc. in Englewood, New Jersey.
