Vincent Long Van Nguyen OFMConv (born December 3, 1961 in Dong Nai ) is a Vietnamese-Australian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Parramatta .

Life

Vincent Long Van Nguyen came to Australia as a refugee with his parents in 1980 and joined the religious order of the Minorites . He made his profession on December 8, 1984 and was ordained a priest on December 30, 1989 by the auxiliary bishop of Melbourne , George Pell .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on May 20, 2011 auxiliary bishop in Melbourne and titular bishop of Thala . The Archbishop of Melbourne, Denis Hart , donated him episcopal ordination on June 23 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were George Cardinal Pell, Archbishop of Sydney , and Giuseppe Lazzarotto , Apostolic Nuncio in Australia .

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Parramatta on May 5, 2016. The inauguration took place on June 16 of the same year.
