Vincent Michael Concessao

Vincent Michael Concessao (born September 28, 1936 in Mangalore , Karnataka , India ) is retired Archbishop of Delhi .

Life

Vincent Michael Concessao was born in the Diocese of Mangalore and completed his studies there. After his ordination on December 4, 1961, he came to Delhi and was then sent to Loyola University Chicago for further studies in sociology . After completing these studies, he returned to Delhi. At the diocesan and interdiocesan level, he held various tasks. Under Archbishop Alan de Lastic he became Vicar General of Delhi.

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Mascula and auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Delhi on February 3, 1995 . The episcopal ordination donated him the Archbishop of Delhi Alan Basil de Lastic on April 1st of the same year; Co- consecrators were Angelo Innocent Fernandes , Archbishop Emeritus of Delhi, and Symphorian Thomas Keeprath , Bishop of Jalandhar . In 1998 he was appointed Archbishop of Agra , and after the death of Archbishop Alan de Lastic in 2000, he was appointed Archbishop of Delhi.

On November 30, 2012, Pope Benedict XVI. his resignation request submitted for reasons of age.

Concessao was Vice President of the Indian Bishops' Conference (CCBI).
