Cardinal Oswald Gracias (born December 24, 1944 in Bombay , India ) is an Indian clergyman and Archbishop of Bombay .

Life

Oswald Gracias studied at the seminary of Bombay philosophy and Catholic theology . Gracias received on 20 December 1970, through the Archbishop of Bombay, Valerian Cardinal Gracias , the sacrament of Holy Orders . From 1971 to 1976 he was secretary to the Bishop of Jamshedpur . Then Gracias went for further studies in the subject canon law at the Pontifical Urban University of Rome , where he in 1981 with a thesis on the legal relevance of conjugal love for a valid marriage consensus in Canon Law doctorate was.

In 1982 Oswald Gracias returned to Bombay and was appointed Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Bombay. He was later a visiting professor at the Bombay Seminary.

Oswald Gracias is chairman of the Indian Bishops' Conference CBCI.

Curia reform
