biography

The son of a wealthy farmer became a member of the district court of Muri in 1798 after the French invasion and the proclamation of the Helvetic Republic . In 1802 he was a member of the council of the short-lived canton of Baden . After the Freiamt came to the canton of Aargau in 1803, Küng worked as a clerk at the Muri district court and as a judge at the cantonal appellate court in Aarau . In 1808 he was elected to the Grand Council , to which he belonged until 1831 and again in 1840/41 on the conservative side.

When Bern wanted to regain its lost subject areas in Aargau in the course of the beginning of the Restoration in 1814 , Küng and other personalities successfully fought against it. In 1815 the Grand Council elected him to the cantonal government. In 1831 he had to resign as a result of the Freiämtersturm , but then worked until 1837 as a district administrator for the Muri district .
