The district of Muri is a district in the canton of Aargau in Switzerland , which consists of the central and southern part of the Freiamt .
geography
The Muri district is located in the southeast of the canton of Aargau. Its eastern border is formed by the Reuss from south to north , and the Lindenberg chain to the west . The center of the northern half of the district is the Bünztal .

Changes in the community
- 1899: Merger of Rottenschwil and Werd → Rottenschwil
- 1940: Merger of Waldhäusern → split between the municipalities of Bünzen and Waltenschwil
- 1941: Name change from Meienberg → Sins
- 1951: Change of name from Beinwil near Muri → Beinwil (Freiamt)
- 2012: merger of Benzenschwil and Merenschwand → Merenschwand
