The Zurzach district (also known as Zurzibiet ) is a district in the canton of Aargau in Switzerland , which consists of the Studenland area in the far north-east of the canton with the Surbtal . The district comprises 22 municipalities .
geography
The Zurzibiet lies between Zurich and Basel, at the confluence of the Aare and the Rhine . It borders Germany ( Waldshut district ) to the north and the Fricktal region to the west . Many German cross-border commuters cross the Zurzibiet every day on their way to work to Baden or Zurich .
Like many peripheral regions, the Zurzibiet has suffered from economic stagnation and migration since the early 1990s. In order to stop these negative developments, the planning association of the region created the platform “Zurzibiet”.
