Vincenzo Massi

Vincenzo Massi (born July 22, 1781 in Sant'Elpidio a Mare , † January 10, 1841 in Turin ) was an Italian clergyman, diplomat of the Holy See and Bishop of Gubbio .

Life

He studied at the University of Fermo and later in Rome. He was ordained a priest on June 23, 1805 and received his doctorate on September 22, 1816 at the University of La Sapienza to the Doctor iuris utriusque . He was Regens and teacher of rhetoric at the seminary in Ripatransone . From 1815 to 1821 he was vicar general in the diocese of Gubbio.

Pope Pius VII appointed him Bishop of Gubbio on June 27, 1821. He received his episcopal ordination on July 1st of the same year in Rome by the Cardinal Bishop of Ostia , Giulio Maria della Somaglia ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishops of the Curia Giovanni Francesco Falzacappa and Mario Ancaiani . On November 12, 1839 he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio in the Kingdom of Sardinia and on November 22 of the same year he resigned to the diocese of Gubbio. On the same day, Pope Gregory XVI raised him titular Archbishop of Thessalonica .

Vincenzo Massi died fourteen months later as a nuncio in Turin.
