Violet & Daisy is an American drama from 2011 . The film was directed by Oscar winner Geoffrey Fletcher , and starring Alexis Bledel , Saoirse Ronan , James Gandolfini and Danny Trejo . The film premiered on September 15, 2011 at the Toronto International Film Festival . In Germany it was released directly on DVD on October 25, 2013 .

Daisy, who is almost 18 years old, and Violet, who is a little older, are young contract killers. Their boss Russ assigns them to kill a guy named Michael. What at first sounds like a normal job turns into an absolutely special case in the course of the plot: At first you don't meet your target Michael at all and wait for him, guns in their hands, asleep in his apartment. When he arrives, he does not steal her firearms, but rather covers them up lovingly and takes a seat in an armchair opposite. When the girls wake up, he tells them that he has been waiting for them and because other killers are already on him, he wants Violet and Daisy to do their job quickly. Which now makes the young women hesitate. They consult apart, but then step back in and fire all their ammunition at their victim's position without looking. Michael has meanwhile left his armchair to bake oat cookies, which he kindly offers the young women. While Violet is buying new ammunition, Daisy befriends Michael. It turns out that Michael has pancreatic cancer and will soon die in agony. It also pains him that he can no longer see his daughter because she has turned away from him.
Now the other killers arrive and let themselves be drawn into a conversation by the bright Daisy. Violet also entered and shot the killers from behind. She notices that Daisy is not a real contract killer and only used blank cartridges in all their joint assignments. Nevertheless Michael asks his new girlfriend Daisy to shoot him, which she does after Michael made his peace with his daughter with a letter written by Violet.
