The nature reserve Niesenberg bei Weinsheim is named after the dolomite hill “Niesenberg” southeast of the locality of Weinsheim in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate . It is located in the Prümer Kalkmulde at an altitude of approx. 540  m above sea level. NHN .

Nature reserve

The Niesenberg near Weinsheim was designated as a nature reserve by the Trier district government on September 17, 1985 . The protected area has a size of approx. 8.5 hectares and lies exclusively in the district of Weinsheim ; it has the identifier "NSG-7232-055".

The protection purpose is the preservation of the Niesenberg with its species-rich limestone grassland and pine population as a habitat for rare and endangered wild plant species, plant communities and wild animal species as well as for geological reasons.
