Scratching at the Altenhof near Bettingen

The Scharren am Altenhof nature reserve near Bettingen is located in the Eifel district of Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate .
The 6.7 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 1988 , extends east of the local community of Bettingen . The Prüm flows west of the area and the L 7 road runs along it. Not far to the south, the Schleidbach flows.
The protection purpose is the preservation of the paws with the adjacent valuable semi- arid lawns rich in orchids , warmth- loving bushes and mixed forest formations as a habitat for rare animal and plant species that are threatened in their existence, in particular bird and insect species .
