The nature reserve Bierbachtal between Hollnich and Masthorn is in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate .

The approximately 31 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 1997 , extends along the Bierbach between the Hollnich district of the local community Habscheid located north of the area and the local community Masthorn in the south-west. State road L 16 runs not far to the east .

The purpose of protection is the preservation, restoration and development of a valley that is typical of the Schneifel foreland and is largely still near-natural because of its nature

  • Near-natural biotope types largely dependent on extensive usage structures ,
  • Variety of semi-humid biotope types that are characteristic of this landscape, such as B. Klein seggenrieder and wet meadows,
  • Significance as a habitat for endangered animal and plant species and their living communities with a large number of individuals.
