The Römersköpfchen nature reserve near Messerich is located in the Eifel district of Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate .

The approximately 8 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 1987 , extends northwest of the local community of Messerich . The Nims flows to the east and the B 257 runs along it .

The purpose of protection is the preservation of the Keuperscharren and the limestone grasslands with adjacent bushes and mixed forest formations as a habitat for numerous warmth-loving animal and plant species that are extremely endangered in their existence and their communities, in particular the Lorraine flax variant of the gentian - semi-arid grass .
