Violetta Ferrari (born April 25, 1930 in Hódmezővásárhely , † January 23, 2014 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian actress and singer .

Life and artistic work

Violetta Ferrari was the daughter of an Italian soldier who stayed in Hungary after the First World War . In Budapest, the young Violetta completed an acting training at the local acting academy. This was followed by a three-year engagement at the national theater of the Hungarian capital. She also worked as an actress and singer in several films from her home country and was considered one of the most popular young film beauties in the 1950s, including in strips with Imre Soós , whose "great love" she was.

Ferrari and her husband fled their homeland to the Federal Republic of Germany after the popular uprising suppressed by the Soviet Union (1956). Soon she got an engagement in the small theater in the zoo in Frankfurt am Main.

The artist became known in German-speaking countries through roles in several German homeland films from the late 1950s and early 1960s. She also sang some hits. With Es muss die Liebe she reached the 12th (last) place at the German Schlager Festival in 1964 .

Violetta Ferrari also played many times in musicals , such as B. in Munich and Vienna, for example the Sally Bowles in Cabaret or the title role in Irma la Douce . At the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz she shone as Penny in the musical Millions for Penny in 1967 .

From her many television productions, she was particularly impressed as the blind girl in Johnny Belinda with Hellmut Lange .

As a voice actress she lent u. a. Lea Massari (Allonsafan) her voice.

Private life

The artist married her colleague Lajos Básti in 1949 , from whom she divorced in 1954. Her second marriage was to a Hungarian graduate engineer. The marriage, which also ended in divorce in 1973, had two sons.

In 1997 she finally returned to her native Hungary, where she also died.
