action

David Maddox is with his wife when she regains consciousness in a hospital. Eveleigh was previously involved in a car accident that killed a child. A year later she is pregnant herself. Together with David, she is preparing to reopen a winery in Paso Robles. At a party at the winery, Eveleigh catches the wine merchant Helena Knoll mumbling incantations in a trance in the house.

Eveleigh suffers from nightmares and hallucinations and begins to believe that the house is haunted. Her doctor recommends that she take a yoga class for pregnant women. There she befriends Sadie. Sadie eventually accompanies Eveleigh to the real estate agent Glenn Barry, from whom Eveleigh and David bought the estate. They ask him about possible terrible incidents in the past at the winery that could have led to a spook. But he can't help them.

Eveleigh's visions worsened over time, so she was back on the antidepressants she was taking the year after the accident but had stopped because of the pregnancy. The visions disappear. When she meets Sadie again months later, she persuades her to stop taking the medication and the visions return. She also suspects that a conspiracy is going on against her that includes David.

In the mail she finds a letter from a library, which shows that the previous owner of the winery, Jane Porter, had already researched paranormal phenomena. So Eveleigh contacted Jane and she referred her to Helena Knoll. Helena explains that she is susceptible to supernatural phenomena and accompanies Eveleigh to the ruins of a destroyed house on the estate of the winery, where both women experience a vision. Helena explains that the visions arise from psychological violence that creates an echo through time. Helena collapses and as she dies she says, “It's not what you think. It is you ”.

Eveleigh visits vintner Victor Napoli, whose family owned the Maddox winery 100 years ago. He explains to Eveleigh that his great-grandmother burned the old house on the estate for paranormal activity. He then shows her drawings of a medium that was trying to contact the ghosts in the house at the time. Eveleigh was shocked to see that she and David were drawn by the medium.

When Eveleigh comes home, David, her doctor Dr. Mathison, her therapist Victoria Lambert, and her friend Eileen look to her to bring her to reason. Eveleigh tries to explain that the ghosts are David and she who are visiting the past. The Porter and Napoli families had only seen signs of future tragedy. Sadie joins her husband Ben. Both are armed. Victoria tries to escape and is shot by Ben. Eveleigh realizes that her visions were preview images of the current situation.

When David stabs Sadie in the stomach with a knife during the fight, it becomes clear that Sadie is not pregnant at all, but only wears a dummy belly. Sadie stabs David, who collapses. Eveleigh pushes Sadie through a glass door and escapes. Ben kills Eileen and pursues Eveleigh. While hunting, he shoots a peasant passing by. Eveleigh is attacked and passed out after being hit.

She wakes up in her bedroom, tied to the bed and gagged by Ben and Sadie. They explain to her that it was her child who was killed in the accident a year ago, and they blame Eveleigh for his death. That's why they plan to cut their own child out of her body. But Eveleigh can break free and cut Sadie's throat. David also regains consciousness and shoots Ben.

In the end, the winery is empty again and the real estate agent Glenn Berry shows it to an interested couple.
