Bryce Johnson (born April 18, 1977 in Reno , Nevada ) is an American actor .

Early life

Johnson lived in Reno, Nevada before moving to Denver , Colorado with his newly divorced mother and two brothers when he was five . There he graduated from high school in 1995. Afterward, his family moved to Sioux City , Iowa , where he began taking acting classes at a local community college.

Career

Johnson decided to move to Hollywood at the age of 19 after his mother encouraged him to forego the Navy. While digging around doing odd jobs to pay his bills, he was also looking for singing opportunities and stumbled upon and enrolled at Pasadena's American Academy of Dramatic Arts . Over time, he got more and more small roles, until his breakthrough in 1999 when he was allowed to play Josh Ford in The WB's Popular .

The show ended in 2001 and Bryce turned more towards supporting / guest roles in teen series and films. He eventually got guest roles on Gilmore Girls , Dawson's Creek, and other teen series.

Over time, Johnson approached the 20s and decided to play more demanding and adult roles. He said he wanted to branch out into the teenage industry.

In 2004 he played a gay cheerleader in Girls United Again and got two leading roles in Sundance Film Festival and Harry + Max .

In 2006, he starred in another controversial film called Lie Sleeping Dogs , alongside Melinda Page Hamilton . He also has a recurring role as Detective Darren Wilden on the ABC Family TV series Pretty Little Liars .
