Vista Hermosa is a municipality ( municipio ) in the department of Meta in Colombia .

Vista Hermosa is located in the southwest of Meta at an altitude of 460 meters 145 km south of Villavicencio and has an average annual temperature of 27 ° C. The municipality is bordered by San Juan de Arama in the north, Puerto Llera in the northeast, Puerto Rico in the east, La Macarena in the south and San José del Guaviare in the Guaviare department , La Uribe in the southwest and Meseta in the west .

history

The settlement of the area of San Juan de Arama , to which today's Vista Hermosa belonged, began in 1537 with the arrival of the conquistador Nikolaus Federmann . Vista Hermosa itself was founded in 1964 under the name Puerto Dulce . As a result, the settlement grew rapidly and received the status of a municipality as early as 1969.
