Vitaly Jurjewitsch Kravzow ( Russian Виталий Юрьевич Кравцов ; * December 23, 1999 in Vladivostok ) is a Russian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the New York Rangers from the National Hockey League since May 2019 and also for their farm team, the Hartford Wolf Pack , plays in the position of right winger in the American Hockey League .

Career

Vitaly Kravzov began his career as a hockey player in the youth team of Belyje Medvedi Chelyabinsk in the Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaya League . The winger made his debut in the Continental Hockey League (KHL) for his home club, HK Traktor Chelyabinsk , during the 2016/17 season . There he established himself in the following season 2017/18 and reached the semi-finals with the team in the playoffs, but was defeated there by the later champions Ak Bars Kazan . In total, he completed 16 playoff games, recorded eleven points and became the third best scorer on his team. Then, in the first round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft , Krawzow was selected as the ninth player by the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League (NHL). This provided him with an entry-level contract in May 2019 after he had spent another season in Chelyabinsk. During the following pre-season he was initially given to the Rangers farm team , the Hartford Wolf Pack from the American Hockey League (AHL).

At the beginning of the 2019/20 season, Krawzow played five competitive games in Hartford before returning to Chelyabinsk on loan at the end of October. However, this loan deal was terminated in December 2019, so that the Russian from then on again ran for the Wolf Pack.

International

Kravzov played his first major international tournament as part of the 2019 U20 World Cup , where he won the bronze medal with Russia's U20 national team .
