Volkers and Volkersberg Monastery

Volkers is a district of Bad Brückenau at the foot of the Rhön in the Bad Kissingen district in Bavaria .

The parish village is located northwest of Bad Brückenau at 479  m above sea level. NHN at the foot of the Kirchberg (552 m), on whose summit the Volkersberg monastery is located. The federal road 286 (formerly: federal road 27 ) leads past the village . The federal motorway 7 runs northeast of Volkers and behind it the area of ​​the Wildflecken military training area begins . The Franconian Marienweg leads through Volkers . The Leimbach rises in the village . The state border with Hesse runs west of Volkers .

history

On May 1, 1978, the previously independent municipality of Volkers, consisting of the municipality parts of Volkers and Volkersberg , was incorporated into Bad Brückenau.

At the 1970 census, the community had 358 inhabitants, 1961 there were 318. The community area in 1961 was 216.54 hectares .
